Basically got a MK4 V5 AGZ 150bhp with a messed engine and have found a AQN 170bhp, now was wondering what the difference is?? Is it just the map on ecu so the engines are interchangeable or are the engines different?? All input appreciated.

From memory 150hp is a 10 valve engine and the 170hp is a 20 valve engine. Probably other tweaks and changes but think they're the main two

Not really interchangeable, 20V is a V6mo engine less one pot, it has VVT on both cams, drive by wire throttle etc

I have both AQN engine complete and an AGZ bottom end only with a broken sump - it fell off a trolley jack

Ideally wanted a good complete AGZ engine to just bolt in.. I think you are guys are correct in saying the 150hp is a 10 valve engine and the 170hp is a 20 valve engine so are not interchangeable. Will see what the customer says and go from there.. Thanks for the input guys, really appreciate it :)

AGZ is definitely 10valve as i have one sitting on the garage floor awaiting looking at, just replaced it with a 20vt but tbh the noise and of the V5 is immense

    Hi Priceygti.
I'm currently undergoing the operation as you mentioned, i was wondering if you could't give me some advice ?

I'm looking to change my AGZ engine (year 2000) out with an 2002 model AQN.

I have bought a new electronic gas pedal and i have original AQN engine loom.

Hope to hear from you :)

What do you need to know

You have two why to do this is one to get the clocks ECU and keys from the car you're getting the engine from or another car with the same engine

Two If want to keep the clock and keys you have you'll need to get the a immobilize defeat as 2000 clocks are immo2 and are not compatible with a later immo 3 ecu's

You'll need both ECU looms ie the engine loom and the one for the bay that Connect's the the rest of the car above the pedal box

The gas pedal you had should have been the same
The throttle body is different between the two

The swap is eloborate and smilar to changing a M3.8.3 20vT to a ME7.5 E-gas system.

    Hi.

Thank you very much :) I kind of realized the size of the project once i allready started, but i am determent to finish.
I bought a loom for the engine bay, but haven't recived it yet.

For now i have a lot mechanical work ahead of me, but the information about the immo is very much appriciated :)
I dont have the keys that belong to the new engine, so i will use my old keys.

Thanks again Mushy 16V I will return once i have fitted the engine.

Did you ever manage to perform the engine swap from AGZ to AQN? My friends engine has shat itself and I've found a cheap AQN

AGZ runs a M3.8.5 cable throttle system.
    AQN runs a ME7.1 with an E-pedal.

None of the systems are compatible.
