wen the car is ticking over in neutral there is a grinding noise and when i press the clutch the noise disappears. i will be gettin a new gearbox (as the differential bearing are badly worn) next week and i was wondering if was easier to buy a new release bearing than a whole new clutch kit since the clutch has only done about 10-15000 miles.

Sounds like an input shaft bearing... when the clutch isn't pressed, the input shaft spins with the engine... when you press the clutch, the release bearing spins and the input shaft stops, so it sounds like the noise happens when the input shaft spins, and stops when it stops, so I would say a bearing on the input shaft.
