Im just about to fit my 2.0 16v 6A engine to my driver (get this, my insurance is going from 850 for a 1.6 8v with HIC to 610 for a 2.0 16v with Adrian Flux!!!) Any way, i'm replacing all the bearings and rings etc so its going to need running in will it be ok to do the first 1k miles on the driver box and put up with the poorly suited ratios because im not going to be booting it during the running in any way? next question, which gearbox to get? the obvious choice is a 16v gti box but i never see em in the scrapy but theres always passats there with cable change boxes are the passat gt boxes different to the rest? or can i use any? also, will the pedal box fit into my golf? thanks for your time.
