The result of fitting a frankenstein engine into a 25yr old vdub i guess!!!

    Just had emmissions sniffed

The engine wasnt overlt warm but results might be indicative to someone!!

    CO2 4.9
    O2 14.1
    HC 2250
    Lambda 2.330

    Idles quite badly , but...........

Found exhaust was blowing - immediately under manifold gasket at convoluted joins on downpipe.

The chap said having HC is indicative of a big airleak like inlet manifold. The head is a brand new/recon so know thats good. But maybe PO bolted manilds up and they wernt 100% torqued ?!?!?

Think i might go to local boyracer place and get a downpipe made up[:s]

yeah check the inlet bolts, i found they were loose on a mates car even though it had never been touched! also its easy for the gasket to fall out of place. look for other leaks around the engine liek the pcv valve and splits in the intake. also buy a new gen vag blue sender if not done already.

then if everything checks out follow my digi tuning guide, do the timing first then the idle & co

    Cheers Mikey/RJ.

Found majority of me answer on weekend after folloeing yours two advice.

(have you read my other self penned retard posts?)

DONT pull out auxilliary shaft and lob it back in haphazardly.

It tends to make you ignition timing 20' AFTER TDC............................
