    Folks,
For those with 16vs on ITBs: how did you get round the dipstick being in the way of the ITBs?
Which way did you move it?

The 'dipstick' in charge of test fitting (me) decided to try to arc it forward to make room...which resulted in me having no level measurement at all possible despite knowing the oil was up at Max.
I tried to bend it back and made a pig's ear of it...ending up with a dipstick tube that the dipstick doesn't want to go into.

So, a new dipstick tube is required...and I don't want to wreck this one...so is the trick to bend it up towards the head, or down towards the front...as down doesn't seem to work?

    Anyone help?

    Thanks,

    Glen

Mine is pushed towards the engine on non-DTH bodies / long-ish inlet mani.

The dipstick corners are profiled to more of a point, to help it find its way.

    Superb! Thanks Chris...
I had another look and assumed it would need to go up towards the head, but wanted to check before I give myself another self-caused problem to resolve.

I had not considered profiling the actual dipstick - but will do so.
    Cheers.

Check my build thread if you're using DTH - that's how mine worked.

Orange dipstick top is just visible, behind injector 2, next to the airbox:

Going to attempt to bend mine backwards towards the engine tomorrow, got a little pipe bender which i hope to use if i can fit it in. Also i have got a dipstick from an old ford crossflow engine which is a bit like a curtain wire, very flexible which may help.

The little alloy bit on dipstick i knocked up with only hand tools to act as locator and stop anything going down the tube

i thought you had DTH Throttle bodies ?

i would get a pro alloy inlet manifold made, you will get much better flow with one fitted.

i bent mine back without a pipe bender worked fine.

    Hello stranger!

    That's another option I never thought of...cheers!
I'll have a bash at sorting things when I get back from offshore...hopefully to collect a freshly MOT'd Mk3 with a new dipstick tube fitted!
