exactly what i was looking for....cheers mate, very informative.

how much do you think im looking at paying for a pack A head?

so if i get that and a full exhaust system then all set up by stealth i should be looking at 10-15bhp gain. :)

    DD 480

    TSR 650

Actually GVk I went direct, I knew him from years back, DD fitted it tho & they do also use him, think they may do some Blydenstein too tho?

Tubs mate personally I really don't think you should be giving prices & ref going direct etc on here, as he doesnt want bods just ringing him up etc.

I'm confused by the man in the shed.

Is he situated around the Brackley area? I had my Ford 2.9 V6 heads ported by a chap reccomended by a guy at my shooting club.

This chap works in a shed, and doesn't advertise as he has his hands full with all the VW heads he had lying about, which he supplies to distributors around the country.

He only usually does VW heads, and has apparently been doing them for years..
Spent a lot of time chatting to him about engines etc. when I was there.. top bloke

Can't remember his bloody name, though [:x]

Edited because the mystery of the man in the shed has been solved [8D]

I've seen good improvement with a Racepower head, the guy whos car it was reckoned on 137bhp (@ stealth for a 1.8 8v+camshaft) after I'd swapped the heads but despite all the numbers and idle chat, it actually did go much better afterwards, which is what counts! Looked like good quality work too.

I still do my own despite them being down the road from me but dont get as good results.... (yet! when I win the lotto I'm buying my own Serdi)

No harm in his name and what i paid been given out really.

Gary has his name in his rolling road day spec sheet and you can't find his number on the internet ;)

I think one of you has genuine VW valves and the other doesn't, but not sure. In either case, the valves were probably from a different supplier.

I bought a new gen VW head where the exhaust valves had the 1 cm recess in the middle of the valve end. The bigger ones I bought to replace them didn't have the recess.

I've already had the head work done, so not an issue for me, but isn't this a great opportunity for a group buy. One of you guys who knows the 'invisible man in the shed' could ask if we could supply 10 (for example) heads, pay for them in one hit, and avoid lots of people trying to contact him direct, while saving lots of money for our horsepower-hungry members.

    Whaddya think?
