Thats what you look like !
[:^(] im soo proud that my lil' old driver turned out so well, makes me wanna cry lol ...obviously sold it to the right bloke! Well done James Dev Edited by: deviboy
Didn't think I'd get all this response. Thanks to all of you for showing your appreciation. Cheers Andy. Good question , I think if I unbolt the filter bracket, all should be fine! Hopefully it will come in handy for others. Well I can vouch that it does move and it has a lovely motorsport style rasp from the exhaust , my brother has driven it on the street (nothing fell apart thank god ) steadily in first and it looked and sounded good . More on that to follow soon. I have a thing about the way stuff looks, very meticulous about my work , glad it brings back memories for you it will certainly be making them for me soon . You thread actually made me think about getting all my pictures up and showing mine. (a couple of hours resizing and uploading ) Kind words Den, thank you . God knows how many times I must have mentioned that I had had enough of it all... and all those [:^(] moments with all the hurdles I've had to get across! Get yourself up to Donington or Cadwell at some point and you can have a go in it. Yes, yes it is You've found me then have you Dev . Cheers fella. Thanks again people, some more pictures to follow tomorrow of the nearly complete article, hopefully.
How much I have spent on parts, tools, small bits, big bits, washers, bolts, brackets, nuts, boots, covers, cables etc. etc. 2100.26 515.72 of which going to VW, it would have been so much more if I didn't have a brother working for VW.
damn it, you make my 2 weeks off work look pooe, i've got virtually nothing done in comparison, although it did take me 2 hours to fit the engine (without a hoist ) Well done matey looks mint!! Ro
5 and a bit months so far on mine , I was hoping to have it done for Inters......... Not on the road yet, although it has been up and down the street piloted by my brother , sounds alright at the speeds it was doing, 2k in first up and back. Bloomin' nice rasp above 4k when blipping it on the drive, should sound like a right mo fo when I fire it down the village. I'm on hols next week, so after that I'll be sorting out the insurance and someone to do a bit of welding work on the floorpan and then get it through an MOT. So mid October hopefully! <fingers crossed> Only update so far is I've fitted a new lift pump with my dad and the main pump under the car sounds a lot better, so it must have been struggling to get the fuel up and out the tank before. Starts up fine now with a slight helping from a blip of the throttle to kick it in. Hoorah. Also, fitted a rear washer bottle onto the chassis leg behind the battery for the front jets. So I think everything in the engine bay is all in now. Not keen on the speedo cable going over the engine mind ( ) so I'm not sure whether or not to change it for a Mk2 16v cable...
Good update James, nice one I think you might have probs with that dizzy cap being close to the master cylinder, I've see other mk1 16vs with right angled connectors on the cap. Surely that airbox being solidly mounted will vibrate like feck too? Edited by: GVK
