Personally think that having seperate leagues is a bad idea, as it's just a bit of fun. Theoretically, a good user with a compact will get a better picture than a rank amateur with a few grands worth of DSLR. So it's not necessarily about the camera, more about the application. As for RAW, i thought post-processing wasn't really allowed for much more than simple cropping etc.?
not true, my wife has a sub 100 10mp samsung compact and that can shoot in manual mode (as can most digi compacts these days) and she can get up to 8 second long exposure.
obviously someone who knows how to use a dslr in manual compared to someone who knows how to use a compact in manual is going to be slightly limited, but its only a fun competition, nothing to win here other than someones name getting known as a winner from such month.
i whole hartedly agree there is a difference, and was mearly making a point. not wishing to aggatate somone...
Think I worded it wrong, I re-read my post and I do sound a bit agitated, but I'm not. Just merely saying
Yours is a load of **** as well. It makes me look like i've got greasy hair and a double chin!!! You've also just revealed my 'hand in pocket, finger over lens' technique that get me the best results from a 47 Fuji!!
dont quite get what your saying isn't true. Because your wife has a 100 compact that means compacts can't cost upwards of 250+?? I spent 180 on a olympus compact for my ex and it was total pants bit more could have seen her with an entry level slr
Some exellent shots again this month, I spent an hour trying to get a shot like no9 too, gave up & didn't enter at all.[:^(] Tough decision between Nos 6 & 9, so I voted for no6 out of sheer jealousy of no9 Has Antikariba chosen next month's subject yet?
It is possible to take a shot like number 9 with a compact but it might well take you alllllll day to fluke it!!
