Apologies for my tardiness. Good lot of entries this month for you to vote on. The subject is Water - please vote for the best photograph/interpretation of the subject. (No voting for your own picture, please.) 1990 Andy Paterson Samn RIPMk3 - 3rd place Blighty Bristol Fish - 2nd place KTuludays Mark 25 Richwig - winner Antikariba
The cat almost won me over, but the braveness of one of the others did it for me lots of entries this month, top work
Excellent shots all round, but I`ve voted for No.9 because that`s pretty much what I did, but didn`t get it submitted in time...
I'm really pleased with both the number and the quality of this month's entries. Hard to choose, but in the end, chose the cat. At the end of this competition, someone please tell me 1) what is that thing in the bath with the baby? Is it water coming down? Or what? 2) the photographer of number 9 has got to tell me how he set up that shot. I want to be able to take pictures like that. Good luck, everybody.
Sam - I'm mortified! Really sorry. (I think I missed it because it came via email and not PM.) Although I'm able to edit the thread, I can't work out to edit the poll to add another option, so I've pulled out my photo and replaced it with yours. You really can't trust some people to just do a simple task without getting it wrong, can you? Hope you'll forgive me!
cant belive you did that!!! now i feel bad!! its o.k its a easy mistake to make.... if i win we can share the success
I think this competition needs a premier league and a championship. The championship can be for cameras that cost less than 75, the premiership can be for 75 and up.
I disagree with that - The composition, subject etc is what makes the photo... Not necessarily the camera
What you say is true in principle, but I have a Canon Ixus 7MP that I always carry around with me. I take quite a few shots with it, but the shutter lag is horrible and the lens quality isn't up to a DSLR. I consider most of my Canon shots to be snapshots, not good quality photos, although I do get the occasional really good one. Also, it cannot take RAW, so there's less flexibility in post-processing. I think 1990 has a point - next time I shall consider two leagues, which I think would make it fairer. (Remind me I said that - I might forget by next month! )
as it is only a fun comp surely it would be best to vote on the idea behind the photo rather than quality of the photo.
a decent compact can cost same as an entry slr anyway.... where not much editing is allowed its more down to the make up of the photo so should be a fairly level playing field. having said that, pretty sure the one I voted for can only be achieved with slr/decent external flash lol
