MK1 Golf GTI accumulator position?

    can someone with a mk1 GTI take a few pictures of the accumulator in its stock position please?

    Putting mine back together and it looks damn low to the floor![:s]

    On a Mk2 Scirocco, it's tucked up just in front of the tank. There's a little bracket welded to the body that it bolts to. I'll take a pic of that area in case it helps. It's toward the centreline of the body from the pump.

    Why do you need the accumulator? I thought you were going 20vt. [:s]

    need it for the Kjet pump.

    not if you have EFI chap, accumulator is only required for k-jet injection :)

    Thinkauto sells the hoses and fittings to bypass.

    I run EFI on the Mk1 without an accumulator and have used 8mm copper hosejoined to the pump using EFI rubber hose. Is cheap and works.

    So is no kind of accumulator needed if going to Stand alone EFI, for example ITB's?
    I thought its needed to keep a constant flow to the fuel rail?

    Im expecting to have to fit a swirl pot to go from carbs to ITB's, as i removed and sold my accumulator?[:s]

    That is the FPR's job, ie fuel pressure regulator.

    You do not need K jet accumulator in an efi setup.

    But wont it still need some kind of swirl pot and with lift pump to stop fuel starvation on hard cornering and braking etc?

    What i was planning to do for converting from carbs to itb's on stand alone was to, to use the facet i have now to feed a swirl pot then from that with a high pressure pump to feed the fuelling.

    So if i am not being a spanner....all i will need is just to replace the facet with a high pressure pump and regulator and i can forget about the swirl pot?

    That what i had read that it was needed to prevent such things from happening.

    Mines staying for when i get bored and go back to proper 8v power.

    A swirl pot is not a pressure accumulator.
