I'd like to thank member vwd40 for confirming his setup for me. I am using a 20v engine with the standard 02J gearbox, along with MK2 Golf subframe and front engine carrier. I was finally able to get a full set of Corrado/Passat/G60 Engine Brackets with part numbers from my local Trade Parts Specialist. TPS still sell the G60 Brackets brand new and for around 45 each but it will save you a lot of hassle searching for them. Part Numbers Corrado/Passat/G60 Front Engine Bracket - 357199273 Corrado/Passat/G60 Rear Engine Bracket - 535199354, 357199354, 357199354H or 535199354C Corrado/Passat/G60 Gearbox Mount - 357199353A Corrado G60 Gearbox Support Bracket - 357199356 I hope this thread helps everyone else who's thinking of doing a 20VT swap or struggling with engine mounts Thanks Mark

We're just getting to point of installation having just removed and carefully labelled the wiring from the donor car. Notice your using the Diesel rear engine mount. Thought I'd read somewhere the G60 rear engine mount was favoured but I'm probably wrong.. The G60 front engine bracket. Is that the whole thing that bolts to the front of the engine? The one we're working on at the moment is broken where the bottom bolt goes through.
I have listed just the engine brackets i am using and what many others are using the mounts most people use G60 as there a good upgrade over the standard mk2 one's but without the price of vibratecnic's or similar after market mounts. HTH, Mark.
mk2 diesle uses same style mount as normal mk2, its the 16v/g60 rear mount you want, plus bonded rubber 1.3/late 16v box and front
Would an ABF rear mount be the desirable style??? Just bought an AGU, including Audi A3, for my mk2 shell and have the ABF mounts left over from my mk1 caddy build
Balls, had one from the Toledo, sold it. Thanks for the quick response Struggling with the widetrack decision - Widetrack means good brakes but rubbish wheel choice or std mk2 stuff which means great wheel choice but expensive to go over 280mm brakes
do you mean 4 or 5 stud? cos you can still go 4stud widetrack if you really want to keep 4 stud but use 5 stud bearign carriers and brakes, what you can do is press in 4 stud hubs and redrill 5stud brake discs to 4
Do the 4 stud hubs just fit then? I thought there was machining to do to make them fit?? My plan was to go with mk2 caddy wheel bearing housings /hubs as they are the same as mk2 16V. Wayyyyyyyyyy off topic for this thread - should probably do my own build thread but I have my heart set on borbet As and preferably 9s up front - is this doable with widetrack??? late spec mk2 and mk3 hubs fit 5 stud housings, just need to swap the outer cv if using 5 stud shafts or just use 4 stud mk3 ones. you need to go wide track with 5 stud bearing carriers though as the ball joint is further forward which will throw out the castor
If I was to use the 357 199 273 front bracket and A o2j box , what starter would I use as the bracket above is m10 , but 20v starter is m12 bolts and not long enough too go through into that bracket ? / also I'll be running a g60 flywheel so I take it the 20v original starter can go into the ring gear ? Thanks !
i used the starter that the engine came with and got hold of some longer bolts from a local fastner company iirc they were 160xM10 HTH Mark
I was doing a clutch on a TDI the next day and found that the bolts were 165xm12 so I cut the nuts off the mk2 bracket welded some m12's on and that's sorted it now With m10 I found the starter could move/ adjusted a little until final torque ,
