cant seem to find anyinfo regarding shallow sumps for an agu in a mk2, not liking the fact that its the lowest part of the car
i got the same issue in my corrado with agu ut i been told that a sump gaurd from a 1.9 tdi fits agu from vw
This link i wrote should help you. Although not full tested yet http://www.dubforce.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=18239
Yeah, this is something that scares me a bit... I have to dodge every single stone on the road to the tranny side (higher from the ground). I can't even get my car to a regular MOT because it scrapes eheehhe
I got this OEM half steel / alloy sump from the states. They are actually shallower and come with a new oil pickup and return pipe. With G60 rear and gearbox mounts and an EIP solid front mount the sump is at the same level as the subframe so ground clearance isn't an issue. Bloody cheap too for an OEM part. http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi/?html=learnmore.html&productID=4369
Have a look at my post ^, same parts with part numbers listed. And works out cheaper, straight from vag
we fitted those parts to a friends mk1 20vt and fit no probs except for the turbo oil return pipe required shortening so we cut n welded it. is there a pipe that will fit straight on?
Exactley my question at the moment..??? Except I've bought a 1.6td sump which will bolt to my AEB engine i'm asuming use the 1.6td pick up pipe but can't find a return pipe..??? Any idea's.? Thanx SHaun
i ordered one of these looks ok. and you use the stock turbo oil drain tube http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=27518
its a steel base. of which i've seen one of these sumps after it had hit something. Damaged yet survived intact, unlike an all Ali item.
Also std fitments on later Beetle with "06*" block as fitted to 1.8T ad 2.0 8v. From uk-mkivs 06A 103 601 T used alot on MK1 conversions with 1.8T.
I am well aware of what they came standard on. Our shop is the only repair shop people go to besides the dealer in the city. We see some of the most severe winter conditions here and those oil pans are crap. Once salting starts , they rust all around the seem and eventually oil seeps out. That is of course if you oil pan survives a block off ice that fell off from a truck infront of you. Our Steel Oil Pan > any oil pan on the market OEM or not. VAG builds oil pans for MASS PRODUCTION. Assuming it will survive under any condition would be very much wrong. Our oil pan survived a full on connection with a rock on a MKIV rally car. More than enough proof for us.
That's all good but a lot of our cars don't see the winter or salted roads and aren't in daily usage.plus our winters aren't that bad overall.
Any details on these? would they clear arp main studs aswell? I believe there's clearance issues in some cases between the standard sump and arp main studs.
