    So, basically, it doesn't really do much to install that sump... Just the fact it will not shatter, just bend. No real gain in height.

    I think there is a gain of about 20mm, but yeah the steel will be more forgiving than the cast ally one. Assuming the ally bit that the steel bit bolts to holds up!
