Buying a MK4 TDI Anniversary... any tips?

  1. Are wishbone bushes particularly prone to going then? Would you do the ARB at same time?

    Good guide here: http://www.cliff1978.toucansurf.com/car/wishbone.doc

  2. Spooky.........:o

  5. Good info. Cheers.

Any advice on upgrading the dogbone mount? I have read a lot of contradictory stuff about it.

I'm yet to do my dog bone, but when I do I'm going to replace it with a Poly one. A mate changed his to a poly bone and said its much stiffer and reduces engine movement.

Also if you do the ARB bushes I would also replace the clips with the new style, again cheap and worth doing.

poly bushed dogbone on a diesel would rattle your teeth out

This! Do not polybush any engine mounts on a diesel unless you like having your fillings rattled loose! Rear axle bushes are a common failure as well, the new ones are a different design and last far longer

  11. OK. Seems clear - stick with originals but probably renew them.
