The problem with the water and being humane is that mice are good swimmers and will swim around for hours(?) until they tire and drown.

The water doesn't have to be in there if you want to kill them yourself or release them later (miles away from the garage!)

That's kind of what I'm thinking. Might be kinder to kill em quickly.

Question is - what makes them want to come in? Do you eat a lot when you're in there and maybe drop crumbs?

Is it stacked on the floor? Might be better to put it high up on shelves, and in plastic tubs or old biscuit tins if it's not already.

Do you ever drop any in the garage?

    Skinny dipping for mice [:D]

Does your house back onto fields or something? Might be a good plan to go round the garage and look for gaps where they can get in - block holes round bricks or pipework with a can of builders expanding foam, and fit tighter draught excluders on doors to make it harder for them to get in. Have you got one of the ultrasonic rodent repellers? They're not 100% effective but might help a bit.

I've just caught the mouse that's been living in my dash yesterday! I can't wait to investigate and see what he's been up to!
