LOL!! I had this same shock feeling the other day - spent a few weeks working outside and a ripping from Toyotec when he paid me a visit in Leicester. The car is now back on the road!! Well I have a busted bearing which I need to sort out but it's all TAX'ed, MOT'ed and had one afternoon trackday under it's belt.

Did you find out anymore about its history, did it ever race in the VW Cup?

I've been trying to find out some more info on its VW Cup history but not having much luck.

Was it used in any other races series?

I found it entered for Oulton Park but never made it out for qualifying. Do you know of any other races it entered?

Spoke to the Welsh Wizard yesterday
Engine rebuild , box check and limited slip diff insertion coming soon
Hotgolf suggested using one of my Holbay cranks rather than the diesel crank fitted to get a higher reving engine but Im going original build with this engine and then build an other engine with holbay crank and G60 pistons , I think . lol

    I dont think so .
Maybe he was so bad or just bottled it after one practice session?

Real shame as hed spent 5000 plus to get car sorted :( and the entry fees on top .

So in the Milkfloat I had my race engine 2.0ltr KR block, 2 TSR Pack A heads 1 with 2004 VW Cup Schrick control cams the other with some Piper 285s I think , race car 020 box which is having a Peloquin LSD fitted and repairs and refresh ( more in next post ) and an 02A box with 3.9 final drive that will hopefully go well with a GTiEngineering RE2000 16v engine in my RE2000 number 2 car .
I did a couple of quick charges on my way to Bridgend and arrived with 60 miles in the battery . This was enough juice to show Mart the quality of my Tesla but not its full power . After a cup of coffee and much discussion about the work to be carried out I took Mart for a quick spin and set of a few miles down the road to fill my battery for free at the Sarn Superchargers.

That was a Thursday on the Saturday I received pictures and write up of Marts work . Hotgolf to those that dont know .
When removing the gearbox and engine 2 years ago my mechanic assistant busted the clutch cable loop casting on the top off the gearbox so I found another gearbox case in my stash . Turn out to be ok but needed some work to get it up to Marts standard. Mart sent me these pictures and a description of the work done .

Marts/ Hotgolfs report on the work
    Started the 020 this morning.
Lots of swarf and metal on the magnet but no sign of bearing damage yet.
There's a pucka 16v 3.94 final drive that you don't see often coupled to std set of gears. VW diff bolts already in there.

End/5th housing is knackered. There was a lump of epoxy covering a hole, and the case you supplied needed some major work as 2 top threads had been stripped and filled in with epoxy and the top face so corroded it would never have sealed:

I've milled the top face and repaired the threads, I'll also need to change the shift mech and plunger as this is a later case ????

Found the issue and where all that swarf came from. This in an after market pinion shaft. The top spline for 4th is a little too high, coupled with quite a large lower preloaded washer. This then meant the shaft is up tight against the upper bearing, clamping rhe shaft in place. The old box had worn the bearing away, but with a bearing it was clamped again. Its going in the lathe now for a skim.

Mart (Hotgolf) says the work on my engine will need some serious thought before starting and other customers to sort as well so we have to wait fore next update .

Because Michael Wright had one for sale .

What thought process this is Sirguydo lol

As Ive always stated Id like to keep the car looking like it did when first built for the VW Cup but tweaked with choice bits I pick up along the way to boost performance , handling and braking.

Looking to take it to 200bhp per tonne if I can , this will initially be dry without driver but who knows .
Also the car will stay period Kjet , KR engine etc
