    You co
There’s no reason why you couldn’t drive it there with the K04, just keep the original injectors in so it doesn’t mess up the fuel magic.
That’s what I thought at least!

interesting..... Perhaps someone like Adlai might be able to confirm?

just found this on the audi sport forum from a member called Prawn, he is a pretty good guy for knowledge and reliability from what i can tell an have seen on his build..

"If you want to drive it at the moment before it's been mapped, what you need to do is sleeve and refit your stock 70mm MAF tube, and refit your stock AGU injectors.

Then unplug the N75 electrical plug leaving the pipes plumbed in. That'll drop boost to actuator pressure, around 6psi, which shuld stop it from blowing up.

With that MAF tube, and the N75 plugged in, if you floor it, it WILL blow up, maybe not instantly, but it won't take long at all to destroy it :("

so i guess, yes i could then drive it to north london, but its still about 200 miles and is that really wise..

I think you can also just unplug the n75 valve and you should be safe enough to drive it there.

edit: Just seen your reply above right as i posted my original comment. Prawn is a very knowledgeable guy and knows his stuff. 200 miles is quite a distance though to be driving it like that - could you perhaps rent a trailer for a day?

    Prawn definitely knows his stuff!

    I’d drive it personally.

i spoke to the guy at tuning techniques and hes able to map just the ECU (post it to him or take it there) if i give him the specs of the car and turbo.. He does lots of AGU maps for k03s and K04 so has them on file i suppose. that makes life easier!

Lock down lunch time mod time continues:

Mocked up this to hold the guages in place in the dash The only real issue i have is that there is a screwpoint on the pastic dash surround that may not be that accessible now

Could you mount it to a radio cage then slip it in?
    Might rattle a bit otherwise.
    Looks good

how about fab up a wee metal pin up top which can hook up into the screw hole, then secure the rest as normal

i've made it so that i can put the pastic surround in, insert the screw, then you can hook up the loom for the guages and slot them in with the bracket...bit fiddly but once in place use these m3 Knurled Thumb nuts and a dab of lock tight to do it up:

will do the job, hardly less fiddly than if you got to remove it with stereo in there, have to take the cage out every time

Looks great, is that a Dreadnaught panel? I've used a NSP triple gauge mount previously in the centre centre (replaces ashtray) looks neat but a bit tucked away definitely would have benefited form being in the din panel like this, I had the same Volt and pressure gauge, painted the main cluster needles to match although I never figured out how to change them to green illumination,

Yes, it is indeed a deadnaught panel.

The actual needle is orange so i'm not sure on that, the units have a pressed fit on them so no chance of taking them apart i don't think.

To get the green illumination you can just change the bulb at the back, i've got some green LED's coming so it should look fine. would love to replace that needle though

Looks nice I like the cutouts and texture of it

Sorry I mean I painted the needles in the speedo, tacho, fuel and temp orange to match the dials.

I may be mistaken but from what I remember the dials have an orange filter across the back of the gauge face rather than a coloured bulb although I would imagine bulb technology has moved on a bit in the 15 years since which will help [:D]
