I'm still not impressed by this really Those wheels But I would like to know a lot more in depth details about this.
Attempting to emulate Renault (R26R) ?, albeit far too late and possibly the wrong model, given the success of the WRC Polo. Agreed ... a spec sheet and price would be useful.
Yeah I agree The Polo would be a good base for a crazy high powered hot hatch, but I really want to see the Golf out-do its rivals "off the shelf", especially Renault. The R400 really caught my attention though, as I've been waiting for something like this to be produced for years. And looks wise, I still think the GTI is the best looking of them all, especially with the 19's
As said on our Facebook group page, This car is likely to be sold in the UK as the 40th anniversary GTI due out next year. It would be slotted between the regular 230ps GTI and the 300ps AWD R, with perharps more R like options as std. Unique rear spoiler looks a bit 'A59' like. Not sure what Volkswagen will change from their modular parts bin and electronic settings to enhance the 'Fahrvergnugen' of this vehicle. Mostly likely that would not be enough to challenge the grip and tractability of a Renault Sport!
I learnt this week, the Golf Mk7 GTI Clubsport will be on sale in the UK in February estimated to cost from 29000, making it the most expensive expensive GTI to date. The Clubsport marks the 40th anniversary of the Golf GTI. The specs are: 2.0 16v TSI EA888 engine 6 speed manual 261 bhp @ 5350 - 6600 rpm (286 bhp in overboost (1.4bar) for 10secs) 256 lbft from 1750rpm to 5300rpm (280lbft in overboost) 0-60 in 5.9 secs Top speed limited to 155mph 1375kg inertia weight Fuel economy 42mpg or 155g/km CO2 Aero mods to improve down force on both front and rear axles over 75 mph. i.e. modified front bumper with central air ducting, blades air curtains and splitter. There are also dedicated brake ducting apertures, integrated at the sides of the main intake. Rear hatch has twin vane spoiler that extends into vertical vanes. Rear bumper incorporates a diffuser. Spring rate 10% stiffer than GTI with uprated dampers to cope. Volkswagen is hoping that enthusiasts will want to take this car to the track, but at the same time create an automobile that is very well suited to everyday driving. Interior does look like a nice place to be. The original 110 bhp 1.6 MK1 of 1976 is now truly updated!
A BOGOF would be great!!!! lol lol If the finance deals are as good as the ones on the Mk7 'R' it would be hard not to get one!!!
Clubsport `S` ... so soon ? http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-germancars/faster-golf-gti-testing-at-the-nordschleife/34127
Agreed ... that was my impression via the original posting material. Would like to know more of VW`s reasoning ?
Sounds like more marketing hype. The Reno Megane Trophy R, Civic Type R and VW groups own Leon Sub 8, has caught the Golf GTI sleeping in my view, and they are trying to claw some of the hype back. 40th year of the Golf GTI and all that. Luke S has a Leon Sub 8 and will be coming to Curby with it. Already asked for my passenger ride!
