You would pick up a Mk2 GTI cheaper than that and to be honest as GVK said it’s a lot of money - I had a Mk1 and granted it was the original of the species but the Mk2 is a better car to drive - better brakes, better handling (in my opinion) and more refined. That said if you’re heart is set on a Mk1 you’re definitely going to spend a significant amount of cash for the genuine article.
