I've just had some of these made which are going in mine and a couple of customer engines...

The idea is to control the oil both accross the sump and reduce it's tendancy to climb out the sides and up through the drain back holes in the windage tray (the windage tray does nothing for oil control... trust me!).

My man has done race sumps using that style that has totally cured an oil issue in the past, told him what I wanted to go with my strips around the edge and thats wot I got.

I have the old style with the holes in them in my old/current sump and suffer surge problems around Coombe... this, with the strips and close fit of the tray to the whole thing should go a long way to cureing it.

Absolutely fantastic [:D] Please do keep us posted.

Just a thought - Absolutely fine for track cars but on a road car if the steel sump is skelped there is possibly potential for the baffles to foul the crank and grenade the engine? Perhaps thinner steel baffles in order? Again just my 2 penny thoughts. :)

    Hi Mr hillclimer

I would definitely be interested in a drop in baffle that actually works for my tarmac rally car. Good work!

I'd have thought it would have to be a fair 'ol whack to push the sump up enough to push the windage try up into the crank.

The baffles are welded to the edge strips, which in turn is tack welded to the sump, plus the sump is a thick 'ol thing.

Any chance of adding trap doors to keep the oil by the pick up to help in stopping starvation better?

Just a brief heads-up on this...

Thanks to all for the positive comments and those that have shown initial interest. This "will" be happening as soon as I can dedicate the required time to it. Personal issues (a divorce) and other customer engine work have slowed things down a bit (plus the loss of a pc until recently) so I'm currently playing "catch-up"... plus ideally I'd like to test it myself in a car before I start selling them and taking peoples money... I want to know my parts work before I sell them.

I also need to speak with Chris to set this section up properly with other parts as well... I'll post up any updates asap.

    Thanks again...

    Jason

Just waiting to hear the price, then I'll probably have a couple of these, and I know of at least three mates that will probably get one each aswell.
