Top suspension nut

    Don't locking nuts have a nylon thread?
    Mine doesn't have any

    might be an idea to nip and get some nylocks then matey, might be expensive if the suspension came loose [:s]

    not always no, the vw ones are just slightly pinched or something?

    i`ll add an old socket from my sealey set..... i dont abuse my good tools :lol: :lol: [:D]

    i had this prob a month ago i welded a short bar onto a socket, then u can get the allen key through! worked a treat!!

    thats a diesel inj tool:)


    thats what i ended up doing, its the best cheapest way!!

    This is what I used, no welding required... Box wrench from tool shop for a few quid then a spanner to go over the top. Easy..

    box wrech is basically metal tube thats been shapped, so its hollow even though it looks black in the photo

    i use a drop nose ring spanner and allan key

    I've used an allen key and spark plug socket before, put the allen key through the centre of the plug socket, socket onto the nut and crack with a spanner.
    Nothing works aswell as an impact gun though!

    FINALLY! I've done the Job! In the end I used 2 sockets, a strip of rubber, mole grips, an adjustable spanner, allen key socket, wrench of course and the special top nut keys that I bought from GSF!
    I'm well chuffed and now I can have some knockless and squeakyless driving![:*:]

    Similar to that, cut a box wrench and welded a handle on.
    Reason was some stuff like koni struts you need to get a socket on the top of the strut to stop it turning.
    This shows it takes up to a 15mm socket in the middle, plenty big enough.

    the top nut came off one guys here dead easy with a Clarke 12v impact wrench even after he had rounded it to buggery.

    power to tighten

    How do you now when the nut is nice and tight.My top mount have a little bearing that fits underneath the mount.If it's to tight it might afect the steering.Any advice......[:s]
