    Hey guys,

I have a 1991 Golf 2 G60 with a O2A as it says in the title and i'm going to refurbish the gearbox and shift tower with newer parts from a O2J. My question has to do with the Shift Tower, cables, brackets to hold it etc i heard its plug and play on my car but which ones do i need? Or does every O2J Shift Tower, receiver, shift box and cables with ends, cable holder, and hardware work on mine or are there differences?

    thanks in advance

You want the later 02j post 99ish, early ones are basically the same design as 02a.

There are also 2 types of late but the only difference is they either have pin or ball joint fixing cable ends. The the basic tower is the same so you can swap either way as long as the cable ends and linkage part on the tower they attach to are matched

This is what the late tower looks like anyway, the main giveaway is the shift weight once you know what to look for you can't miss it

What about buying a new case for the tower from Classic VW parts and swap everything from another one like this one i found in a wrecker near me? Is that possible? Take the internals from this one and put it into the case from VW Classic parts? Ive contacted wreckers from North to South of Portugal and cant seem to find the plug and play one. Maybe i should look in another EU country dunno, im a bit lost on what to do in regards to this Shift Tower swap. The only part i cant get is the base plate that is out of stock but i can get one made i think doesnt look too complicated, i think

You need the top and bottom plus one of the levers inside, but it's definitely an option if all 3 bits are available. Trouble is cost you may end up spending more...

eBay.de would be a good place to start though I have no idea how common they are...
