was waiting for it to download WOW what kinda power does that give out? and it must go quicker than the golf ITS LIGHTER mk2 coupe
The vid is from SLS, its actually on their website. Depending on state of tune the small polo motors are every bit as good as a bike engine. The 1.3 8v motors will make 170bhp properly tuned, and converted to 16v can see over 200 bhp at nearly 12kprm. Sorg motorsport
dunno why the tach starts at 4k when it idles at the start its on just under 4k and its sounds like 900-1000 rpm surely not 10k
When it dips down,he's blipping the throttle, no doubt it's got a 300+ degree cam(s) to allow it to rev that high, so I would say the bottom end of the rev range is a little rough? Over ten years ago the bosses National Hot rod with all steel Ford x-flow would rev to 10k, so I can't see any reason the Polo isn't. Edited by: G_V_K
Go read the helpful link I posted, listing Polo engines, off the shelf ready to race with 9, 10 and 11k plus rev limits. They're little baby lightweight things, and with quality work and components are pretty similar to a big bike engine, which we all know will rev this high all day long.
the reason the tach "starts at 4k" is so that the bit above 4k where the engine spends most of its life is easier to read instead of having 10k worth of readings crammed around the dial. If the engines never under 4k once the car is moving, whats the point in having a dial that can accurately tell you where you are between 1k and 4k, and is harder to read over 4k cos the numbers are squashed together?
plenty of the mk2 escort rally guys hit 10krpm or more, using the vauxhall 2.0 16v lumps and n/a cossie's. good to see a few dubs with properly tuned motors lately, cant not like it really
