Got my Weber fitted today (thanks, Rich ) You might not think that is particularly unique, but mine has a manual choke....... in the bonnet! So I open the bonnet, pull out the choke, close the bonnet, drive half a mile down the road, stop the car, open the bonnet, push the choke back in, close the bonnet and continue on my journey......
i fitted a carb aswell, today, and my choke isnt coneected at all, so prob wont start tomoro. i was trying to get it started for ages and ages and ages (pushing, towing, and so on) and went back into the house to read up on a few things, and noticed the rotor arm sitting on the side , not like it was essential to it starting though what carb you got btw? Yup - you guessed right! The choke cable was cut, so it wouldn't reach, and I have to go to GSF and get one (mechanic said to get one for Mk1 - presume all Mk2s had the Pierburg with auto-choke?) Tim - how's yours set up so as not to need one? (Or do you just drive it in the summer? ) Latham - not sure, you'd better ask Richgit Edited by: stella
well it works fine for me, i dunno how its set up, as i know nothing about the working of a carb, it was tuned by a bloke who works on rally preped classics that run twin carbs, so he knows his stuff, he is also a rally driver and has his own race team, tim
Damn, those guys at weber must be some stupid. Designing and Putting a choke mechanism on, when its totally not required
actually, mine doenst have a choke at all!!! no choke butterflies nothing, it has a cold starting device, but im unsure on how it works as for the idea that it doesnt need a choke, then it is actually plausable, if you enjoy pushing your car. as i ran my car with no choke for about a week, and most mornings i had give it a good ol push
im not saying its pointless and they shouldnt bother etc etc. just saying that mine is set up so it works fine with out!
I wonder who looks daftest in the mornings, you or me? Oh - BTW Andy, you were right he also removed the by-pass valves for the heater (which I'd only just replaced) and now I get heat all the way home from Warwickshire, and not just the first twenty miles or so. Luxury, eh? Driving in February with no coat and no gloves!
I dont know anybody who use`s the cold start on dcoes,a couple of pumps of the pedal is the usual cold start device
ye, i found that it fired first time, but it needs nerturing untill its warm, booking a session on the rollers tomoro, so itll be set up nicely i hope
