Hi Folks, will soon be lifting out my poxy 1272 and replacing it with an 8v GTI engine and 5 speed 020 box. Will there be enough travel on the existing 4-speed gear selector or will I have to source one from a GTI? Cheers
you need everything from a 1.6-1.8 MK2 5 speed manual, even the gear selector rod is different./ you may also need a new steering rack, I'm not 100% sure the 5 speed mount holes are there on the 1.3. have a look at my linkage faq, thats got nice pics of everything
Ahh, cheers rubjonny, pics were a big help. There appears to be provision for the linkage on the steering rack but the holes are un-tapped, I assume they need to be threaded?
