hi there, im trying to use 256mm hubs and driveshafts from a corrado, to mate with a 2.0 16v 9a engine also from a corrado.

planning to use an 020 gearbox as it is going into a mk2, am i right that i can only use a 020 16v box due to teh flange sizes? if so, can it be any 16v 020 box?

i have heard people talking about different input splines and 90 & 100mm flanges, i would be grateful if someone could explain the differences between the 8v and 16v boxes to me.

    Cheers

I Think the input shaft and the drive flanges are both bigger on the 16v box and the ratios are different.

Both will have the same flanges. Gear ratios will be different, but you'll need to use the clutch friction plate to match your gearbox. Everything else is a straight fit......

so all 020 8v and 16v boxes have the same sized input and output flanges? meaning that i could potentially connect 16v driveshafts to an 8v box, but would have to use an 8v clutch?

i thought some boxes were 90mm output and some 100mm.

    cheers

GTI boxes are 100mm, the other are 90mm on the mk2

If you want an 8v box with the same ratios as the 16v you'll need the 9A code.

    I've a few non-GTi Mk2 boxes, and they all have 100mm flanges?

    found this today:

im not bothered about haveing the same ratios, just want a box that will take a 210mm 16v clutch and that will connect to the driveshafts i have. is the 90/100mm measurement, the diameter of the output flange, i.e. distance between two oppostie bolt holes? or a different measurement?

    cheers
