I'm in the process of swapping the gearbox on my Mk2 8v. I am almost ready to put the new box in, but I'm a bit confused about the alignment dowels. When the old box came out, the 2 dowels stayed in the engine. However the new box has one of the dowels attached. I will obviously need to remove this dowel from either the box or engine, but which one should it stay in? Does it matter?

Probably easier to take the one out of the box, while it's off, but be careful you don't crack the gearbox casing... otherwise, whichever one you think will come out more easily.
