I had a small issue today while at the trackday, the green cover on the end of the box was leaking, so went to VW at lunch and got a new one along with 2l of gearbox oil....got back to the track and then checked the oil and the guys given me ATF! surely this is not right? I know at the moment it has 70-90W (or something like that) fusch supersynth in there which is supost to be factory fill.

so which should I be using? do I take the ATF back or not? the car is used on track alot so I want the best protection for a box that is driven hard.

    Cheers

    Karl.

From what I'm hearing from a box builder, gearbox oil is over-rated and a scare sell.

Put some Castrol EP80 or 90 in it, or VW equiv. OEM spec basically.

That's what I'm about to put in a 6-speed Gemini 02A with a plate diff in it.

It might be, but quantify what it has done, seriously.

    It's a scare story.
