16v KR Mk2 gearbox: Just had my diff spit a rivet through the box casing once again, soaking the clutch in 'box oil. Took a week and a 70 mile round trip to get a 16v box the last time, and i'm going to replace the clutch now. My question: what's the difference in ratio's between 8v and 16v boxes? will an 8v box kill the acceleration of me valver? I realise the input shafts are different sizes, hence the clutch swap being an ideal time to change box... Box codes and ratios here: http://www.nwlink.com/~vdb/vw/Transmission/speed-ratio.html TIA, Dunk
I have an early 8v box in my 16v and cannot complain. Generally the 8v only has a different 5th i think... just gonna find the ratio chart...
Cool, think i'll give it a try! Lot easier to find an 8v up here like, plus i've got swapping a box down to three hours or so now Cheers bud
One local breakers want 200 plus vat to supply, the other's 30 - 40 quid dependin how bad the guys hangover is... Think it's time i moved south like!
