Cheers gents, I just missed out on a TSR pack A head and the vendor has offered me a ported and polished 027 head instead, would it fit straight on to a bored out KR, I'll be running a later 50mm inlet will it be compatible? does it have any advantages/disadvantages over a later head? not really, depends on what exactly ported an polished means is it a proper job like you would get from stealth or has it had a quick once over with the dremel and mr sheen?
Not to sure thats what concerns me, the chap seems to know his stuff and seems very genuine the only info that I have at the moment is that it was done by a reputable VW specialist, but reading around it seems to be extremely technical this porting and polishing lark bigger and smoother is not necessarily better etc so it's a bit of a minefield and i am the first to admit that I have pretty limited mechanical knowledge so it makes it very tricky, hopefully I should get some more details this evening I am in two minds whether to just go for a new Pack A but 650 is a lot of cash, and I am trying to keep to a budget. So in theory the 027 should bolt on? Thanks again. Pete
yeah it'll bolt on ok 650 is crazy money, have a word with dexster or barney they got ported heads recently

Pete - go for the 027 head. I have been told before that this is a different cast (and the 051 is the other one) It is meant to be a better starting place - there is no way that a head of even a very high standard is worth 650! I paid 270 to have mine done if that gives you an idea of the other end of the spectrum. Stealth charge 450 for their's BTW
