Sorry read through all the FAQ;s and could only find this quote "02A & 02J gearbox differences

    - the diffs are different: 02A has push in output shafts on spring clips, 02J has bolt in - but
either does fit in either case so long as you have right flanges"

I have an 02J with 108mm bolt in cups can I remove them and put in 02A push in cups? just to make it more difficult this is all going in a MK1!!:)

That info is not correct, you get 02A gearboxes with both push in and bolt in output flanges.
You will need to source the 100mm bolt in flanges from an 02A and these will replace your current 02J's 108mm output flanges.

As above, the cups are specific to the diff carrier. You can't bolt cups into a pushin diff, as there's no threads to pull it in, plus the other differences on top.

You can use 02A dishes in 02J gearbox.
    Just a pic to compare

    Left: mk2 16V halfaxle with 020 dish
    Right: audi A3/golf mk4 1.8T halfaxle with 02J dish

02A dish is 100mm diameter and has the same ending (which you insert in differential) as 02J

I have used 16V halfaxles with 02A dishes to fit on 1,8T's native 02J gearbox. You can see it at my build thread. :) Sorry, have no pic with 02A dish.

Found some pics to see comparison 100mm vs. 108mm

    WTF ^

You can't fit a push in 02a/j into a bolt in02a/j, end of. We know you can fit bolt in-bolt in ;)
