02A or 02J gearbox diff preload shims: who supplies?

    Od is 68mm and id is 59.3 ish
    Can find plenty of 02M kits, but struggling to
    Find 02A or J
    I have lots of 020 stuff
    Job stopped for want of a 1.05 or 1.1 mm

    Back ordered with dealer now. 1 week to 2 months was the quote. 'none in uk'
    I am after a little more help on a related issue now;

    02J removing 5th gear synchro hub (argentinian made box)
    Heat and an adapted mechanical puller has so far failed to shift it
    They are normally tight, but this one is ridiculous..

    That kit of parts looks very useful from darkside, something I should stock for future use

    Doing another 02J box now.
    Looking to invest in another set of 3 leg pullers. Will a 5 tonne set pull 5th gear synchro hub off, or an 8 tonne?
    Looking at MATRA, Sykes Pickavant, Sealey, Kukko
    What have you bought guys?

    Do not use ‘legged’ pullers in the drive gear, sure way to chip teeth. For the smaller driven I have a home made jobbie with thin legs.
    Vw do the shims separately

    Understood, agree. Tricky job though.. Made something, but its not pretty. Job now complete, ready to go into my A3
