Hi all, Can someone please let me know what the Torque setting is to tighten the drive flanges up on an 02m 6speed box please? Thanks Philip
Id like to know this as well... Iv just tightened mine as much as i could whilst holding them with long extension bar wedged between cpl of bolts Most probably done them wrong...
hmm so why is the elsawin printout for the 08a saying otherwise? its a fabia one if that makes any difference...
and to confuse matters more, ElsaWin Golf MK4 02M repair manual says 25Nm http://vwtech.no-ip.info/downloads/02mdiff.pdf edit: we're all talking about bolt 16 in the above pdf right?
That is correct! MK4 with AUQ engine and 02M gearbox with M10 multi-point socket head bolts 70Nm. S3 with BAM engine and 02M gearbox FZL with M10 mulit-point 70Nm.
Depends on which diagram, but you would need to go to the running gear section for removing front drive shafts. M8= 40Nm M10 70Nm Pre tightening 10Nm (nip-up).
I went to the section for rebuilding the diff, and it told me torque setting for the CV cup bolt is as above. you can see it clearly labled as '16' in the diagram, and it says 25nm. where are you guys getting your torque figures from if not ElsaWin? edit: ok i found the section you mean, but why is it there? the cv cup isnt listed as needing to be removed as part of driveshaft removal and refitting, so why would the tourque figures be in this section? Now I'm really confuseled edit2: ah. these figures are for the hub bolt are they not? if so, the OP is asking about the CV hub flange on the gearbox itself I believe?
Ah sorry - yes I was talking about the bolts that actually hold the driveshafts on... Just thought i'd better chip in as I've heard of several people having them come undone a couple of months after a clutch change becuase garages are using the wrong data... Rubjonny wins the prize for being the only one to actually reading the first post correctly
Just to confirm... My question is in regard to the drive flange bolt that holds the flange to the gearbox, NOT the drive shaft bolts. When un-doing the bolt it did not feel very tight.
