Can someone please confirm the VW part number for the BCB piston is as follows; 036107065AH

I am being offered these pistons: http://www.ebay.co.u...qUAAOSwFGNWRcoC

They are listed for the 1.6 golf and the 1.4 golf (look at engine codes on this forum) but the 1.4 had compression ratio of 10.5:1 and the 1.6 had 11.5:1.

These pistons must be designed in a way where they work for both types of engine but using the calculations they cannot offer the true absolute compression ratio??

Indeed the the AZD and the BCB, uses the same pistons (036107065AP) and the same cylinder head.

It makes sense that the 1.6 has a higher CR, as you are compressing volume derived from a longer stroke is the same space as a 1.4.

    Thank you so much.

I know it's my final decision but which one would you go for?

The cheap yenmak ebay ones that have:
    recess depth; 2.35mm
    bowl diameter 64.60mm
listed for:BCB BBY BKY AYA AZD AHW AXP APE
    200

or the ones you listed OEM : Kolbensmidt
    recess depth 2.7mm
    bowel diameter: 64mm
    listed for: AZD,BCB,AUZ,ATN
    380

It's a question that has been hard to answer. I am using shrick mild cam 264/264, an extra 1.5mm of lift but I know it's not necessary the recess that matters when it comes to valve lift but the valve recess.

With something like that, go OEM.

I manage to get the KolbenSmidt ones for 310 full set from a company 100% ebay seller.
I assume they come with piston rings and pin complete.

That's right I learned that the companies get the original piston and make some sort of mould to copy design?

I got this information from Sonne pistons because I asked them why there recess depth was 2.8mm and not 2.7mm like the oem.

I know it's not alot but it was good to know why.

The word they used was mould in their reply but their English was abit broken so I assume the above.
