Hi, Just had a call from my girlfriend whos away for the weekend to say a light has come on on the dash of her '04 Polo. (1.4 BBY engine code) . Turns out its the Exhaust emissions warning lamp. She looked in the handbook and it says to ease off the accelerator and drive to the nearest VW dealer as there is a fault with the lambda probe or engine emission level. Is this a common fault any quick fix? Should she risk driving the car the 300 oddd miles home? cheers Steve
A quick google search suggests it could be anything from cheap fuel, water temp sensor broken, dirty MAP sensor, software upgrade req'd, coil pack or HT leads. Generally people still seem to drive the car with the light on.
