The polo 1050's and 1300's came with auto choke after the hydraulic heads were fitted I guess the 1.3 golf 2's were similar, but you may need a polo/later golf intake if it uses the coolant water for warm up control of auto choke, so in theory all the bits off a say 86/87 polo/golf should do I think. Not sure how the 1.3 jetting would work on a 1.1 though. I had a manual choke carb on my 85 polo coupe and that was pretty easy to use, the auto ones can have a few problems but are generally pretty good. My local scrappy would probably let you have all the bits needed for less than 20 quid so hunt about for a suitable doner polo I'd say.
There are also weber replacements that although having a manual choke gave better hp and economy IIRC. New they were like 250 quid but you might find one 2nd hand somewhere if you're lucky.

The weber you need is the 34ICH, others might work to but thats what I use, manual choke but more power and better econmy.

Try searching the bay, they come up quite often but youll need the mounting base too to fit it to your golf inlet manifold
