At the moment my tdi is in the garage so I'm driving my old car around which is now me mums.

But anyways, when i had it would occasionally turn over, make a funny werring noise, reset the clock and then start.

It still does that along with sometimes not starting as if the battery was flat.

To then start it...take hand brake off, stick foot out of car and shift the car a few inches then try again and it will start first time!

Any ideas? I'm guessing starter motor is on it's way out or connections to/from it?

Thanks for the offer yeha, unfortunately your few hundred miles away!

The battery did get run dead several months ago when it was in my hands (broken down listening to music...doh!) but the clock resetting problem was before that.

It hasn't been changed in 2 years we'ved had it though.
