I think I may have sourced a good DX block and head, head is bare apart from the valves, will the cam and followers out of my fubar'd 1.6 H-block engine work in the DX head?

Not 100% sure, but I think it works if the DX is a solid tappet one. They built Hydraulic tappet DX engines as well. Does it have 4 or 5 cam caps?

It should fit no problems if your replacement head is also a solid lifter type. I run a euro 'G-Grind' cam from an early 1.6 in a mk2 EV head and for a stock cam it's quite an aggressive profile; circa 10.5mm lift and 255* duration (edit: re-checked my figures) so if it's the same as mine you're on to a winner!

You'll need to check the clearances in your new head though and may need some new shims...

Thanks for the replies, managed to find a complete low mileage 1.6 GTI motor so went for that instead.
