    right i have just downgraded from a vr to a 1.6 [8(]
i dont know if it makes any difference but it has a dinky little inlet manifold on top.
just wondering if it's injection or carb as it looks kinda injection too me.
is there anythin i could do for a little more pull as im kinda having a mass comedown from the vr! gti cam? 1.8/2.0 bottom end if possible? i have a mk2 4 branch would that fit just poking around the bush at the min but who knows if i'll even do anything to it yet.
    cheers for any idea's tho

it depends which type 1.6 you've got, small block (X-flow 1598cc iirc) or big block(counter flow 1595cc iirc) both manifolds on the rear side of the head.

A 1.8 or 2.0 bottom end would be mechanically possible then.

But the SPi injection won't handle that tho, so you'd be looking at a whole new fuel injection system with HP fuel pump or carbs which are not mot friendly on a mk3.

Complete engine and fuel system from a gti or 16v would be best IMO. Probably 25% more fuel efficient too.
