Does anyone have any information on where a billet crankshaft can be purchased for the rabbit petrol 1.6l 8v engine ? 80mm stroke or a little shorter....
Eurospec do a wide range. http://www.eurospecsport.com/products/components/performance-4cyl-crankshafts.htm I'm sure there are others.
Thank you i found them and sent an inquiry however they do not do an 80mm only 75mm in the old style (non trigger wheel) style and a 77.4 in the new style that i dont think i can use. Any other advice guys ?????
What's your aim as most things can be accomplished with crank - rod - piston combinations you can then deck pistons or use thick compression lowering gaskets to mix things up a bit .
Yep fair question at this point, i am trying to achieve 1600cc (or near enough to) using a billet crank and forged rods, if i use the 75mm crankshaft i cannot get the bore large enough to get the capacity. The engine is for a historic race car. In a perfect world an over square engine would be ideal........
80mm stroke is the 1588 lump and 77.4 would be the 1595, from memory. So going from the standard 1588 bore of 79.5 to 81 would get you there, but I'm sure you already know this. Easily found is the 1595 engine, few people seem to want them. They do rev. Block heights are the same, I think, so rods pistons shouldn't be an issue, providing the top matches your head config I'm running an EG 1588 racer on the rolling road today with the 80mm std crank and know from past experience it will rev to 8K reliably. (famous last words, touch wood) With a 40:35 head you have enough flow in/out potential. Let us have some more details
Why the need of a billet crank ? My Holbay and Oettinger stroker cranks are both forged and most monster turbo guys use forged cranks .
I do not think this is an average question to utilise common of the self parts. Or is it? @silverfoxisme are you in the North American market? I noticed you said for a rabbit. Does the engine have to retain the original block and is the limit at 1600cc exactly. As you said billet crank you obviously have a budget to do this.
