I have just had to pay 590 (with my trade discount) for Item #5.
A new Turbo was 390. In comparison the turbo is worth a lot more!

Now all that is wrong with the old unit is that the plastic 'slipper' bearing that the chain runs on is worn away.
I stripped the unit and found everything inside was fine so all I need is a new slipper.
That would be a 30 spare.

^^You can use the rubber plastic bits from the other head you have if the adjuster was supplied.
This assumes you adjuster was not noisy in the first place.

I'm sure you can buy the plastic guide on its own

I bought one as it had broke up when I rebuilt the beetle head

    Brilliant folks, thanks very much.

This is a better bet I think as it includes the clamp: VAG 3366

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-VW-Go...bd87b97&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=291440086264

Now, the problem is that the pad is not a listed as a VAG replacement part! Well I can't find a part number anyway!

Next problem is to get the dealer to take the part I have back!

These are, to my mind, Chinese aftermarket, or pukka ones supplied to VW China, which would be good!

So one wonders: What they are made of and how long they will last?

I suppose that at that price I can change them every 5,000 miles when I change the oil!
