A while ago a chap I know acquired a Passat, noticing it was a GT I quizzed him a bit regarding the engine - just in case it was a 2.0 16v and he wanted to get rid of it in the near future. It turns out it's got a 1.8 8v lump in it, running digi. I thought all GT's were 16v.. It's got the correct wheels and badging. Anyone care to enlighten me as to what's going on?
So, what were the 16v varients fitted to then? Did they just fit anything from a 1.8 8v to a 2.0 16v in the GT?
I've come across an 8v GT before and it had me a bit puzzled. I thought upuntil then that they were all 16v's but obviouly not. 1.816v kr was until 89 then 2.0l 16v 9A from then on.
