There is normally a MK2 20vt running a DTA setup and there will be a few others running an Emerald setup on there 20vt's down at the Ace-cafe meet in North West London which is tonight, the last Tuesday of the month......come down and ask your questions.

BTW my choice would be Emerald.

When's yours going to be done Rich?

Be interested in the RR figures you get, as you know mines being done soon and am having the same spec - TT 225 with DTA.

I expect the RR figures to be more around 270 - 280?

Well im hoping for anything between 280-300bhp, ive been told that this isnt a problem. What intercooler are you going for? Theyre fitting a nice big forge one to mine :)

Only thing is, ive got a jetex s/s system thats a tad under 2 inches diameter. I think that this is too little. Probably going to have to get powerflow to make up a 2.5 inch system.

    And whens it going in?

What's your reasoning behind this Tim?

Is it just Golfboy_Chris and Lee-GTi using Motec? Could I ask why you went for Motec over all the others avaliable?

On a general note, would all dealers of these standalone management systems be able to map any engine at any spec or would they need to have prior knowledge on how to map a different engine successfully?

the autronic is very good at controlling large injectors are low duty cycles
and supports peak and hold injectors.

Also i have seen a lot of high powered cars (200bhp/L plus) running
autronic with good results. Like Ruud racings cossie with its 1600cc
    injectors

A major reason for ecu choice is who you choose to supply/fit or map it and their familiarity with any given system. Motec if Dylinx for example.

yeah IF i go with autronic id get mark shead to map it on the Norris
    designs dyno.

But TT is working on summat, and it would be nice to keep the project
    within friends.

I've been running my 20vT (BAM 225 lump) on DTA (mapping courtesy of Vince) for over 18 months now and it's never missed a beat.

As mentioned earlier, the system's only as good as the person who set it up.

Over the last few months they have developed a better chip for the ECU which offers finer tuning and Vince has achieved some good results with it.

I'll be taking mine in for the chip upgrade and I'll also be playing with my fueling (injectors etc) in the near future.

Ultimately, the reason I went for the DTA is that like Stef, I trust Vince and I know his work is always quality.

A bit of advice to those of you planning/in the process of having a 20vT conversion......... depending on the spec of your engine, have it set up and mapped conservatively to start with, many people want 300+ bhp straight away then wonder why they broke it and have to spend for a rebuild after the initial cost of the engine/transplant.

Don't chase the figures, make the car driveable and make it last (unless you have v.deep pockets).

The emerald was also fitted to the Twin Vr6 Turbo AKA BIG DUB

Didnt hear anyone moan about that!

Emerald were/are alot cheaper than most other brands for basicly the same product but others are tarted up with bits to make them sound better ... ie knock sensor control etc..
