I know I asked this ages ago, but on my conversion there is the auxiliary water pump in the cooling system, is there a way of wiring it into the mk2 (fan maybe?) without a turbo timer unit, is it supposed to run with the ignition also?
Have mounted it and have the two wires coming from it, just need clarification as to where to connect them.
    Thanks, D

tha audi A3 just uses a simple turbo timer relay, so theres no need to do anything fancy really. you could maybe use a mk2 golf fan after-run relay with the thermoswitch mounted near the turbo somewhere

Not sure my car had the thermoswitch as it's only a driver.
Take it the fan after run relay is the one that's mounted on top fusebox?

the carb cars are more likely to have the rad fan after-run as it happens, 220 relay above the fusebox. theres a random brown wire with black sheath for the thermoswitch floating around behind the engine somewhere for it, and a red/white spade near the fan :)

forgot it needs to be on with ignition on though, what you could do is grab the audi relay and run it in the after-run socket. would prob need to do a couple tweaks to the socket layout then you can run the red/white wire to your pump instead of the fan.

believe the relay is 1J0959485A #411

I'll have a look after work, not sure, dont remember the wire when removed engine, plus my main engine loom has been rebuilt for 1.8t,
I'll check the fan relays I have and see what can do.
    Thank you.

There is definitely a wire up near the master cylinder that looks like sheathed in black, or may just be black, it was coiled up and secured there.

Dodgy - on a completely different note - why have scrambled eggs replaced the outfits/masks on your profile pic? I was a big fan of the masks etc.

Mash potatoes, good to see you @costel1969 .
Well, no real reason, just no new cosplay as no comicon been going on.
And after seeing my boy at the weekend he said he would try and better my 27 roast potatoes record, which didn't, he had 6, lightweight.
But then said he would make mash with all these potatoes, just to beat it.
    We can be daft .

Cool. Have you ever seen the live action film (2004) of the manga series 恋の門 (Koi no Mon) - Otakus in Love? I find it hard to keep up with new releases these days, but it is an only from Japan classic imo.

Not seen much manga stuff, and not for a very long time, may have to investigate further.

Just checking I've got this right before I wire it up, 411 relay and as follows, will be fused obviously,

1 and 6 to ignition switched supply
    2 to permanent +12v supply
    4 Earth
    8 output to auxiliary pump

    Pretty simple if that's it.

@rubjonny thank you for that, great help.
One problem I've encountered though, the two wires on the pump are green/black and pink/black, any idea which would be earth?
