Can anyone tell me if an apk engine will fit directly into my 2000 mk4 golf and if the gearbox from an agu will fit on the apk
if its come from another mk4 then it will go in. if your car is DBW now then you'll need to convert it back to DBC. the agu gearbox does fit the engine, but the ratios inside probably wont suit it very well? what engien and box is in your car now? with the wiring side couple potential issues. main one is if your car is 'early' and the loom is 'late' you'll need to modify a couple connectors. the main one is in the engien bay, early cars have a 10 pin plug to join the main ecu loom to the engine bay loom, late are 14. Almost the same pinout but 2 wires are swapped. then for tyhe fusebox side the early cars have a green plug instead of a white plug. you can trim the plugs so they fit together thats no problem, but there are 2 wires switched between the orange and brown for 1 pin of the reverse switch and the fuel pump trigger from the ecu. I've covered both the above in my conversion guide, check the early and late pinout lists to see what I mean http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?267196
Hi, thanks for the reply. All I know is that it's an agu engine with the 5speed box and that the APX normally has a 6 speed box. I have got the APX engine with its full engine loom, ecu, key and clocks. Will I still have to mod those wires
