    I might just pm him.
Do you know if its a common conversion? I'd love your torque figures in a mk2.

    Right... The problems still here.

Ive got a few details now.
    Its a 99 passat with a 2.5 v6 150bhp.
My dads mate says it's low on power, He says it wont do more than 45-50 at a push.
he's taken it to a garage and they said the Air Flow Meter is gone.

Could this be a cause of low power, and if it is , where's the cheapest place to get one?

    Cheers all.

contrary to popular belief, the dealers are affordable now
they reduced the price of mafs few years back as they were taking the p*ss.

I did see the us mk 2 diesel conversion, fairey basic as it was a mk 3 engine (exactly same mounts!) not

I'm running a mk 4 GT GTI 130, as well as a mk 2 with mk 4 tdi enigine (origanlly 110 bhp) currenty runing 140 brake without chipping yet!

    Thanks Crispy + Seraph.

So around the 80 quid mark then... Could this be the cause of low power and a flat out speed of 45-50??
I havent seen the car yet, Ive only spoke to the bloke over the phone, and he didnt sound as if he knew exactly what it was himself. I was told that a VW garage said it was the Afm. Does this sound feasible?

Crispy- What does the mk2 with the tdi engine go like? I bet its a beaut to drive with all that torque.

Not so sure about the flat out speed

But certainly has to be a starting point.

I dont think im aware of a mk4, of friends or customers, that hasnt had a maf replacement

AFM is the MAF, just different termanoaligy
when it's completely given up, it can have flat spots and not be able to rev up in gear

yep the torque is very nice, border line scary in the wet! all the power hits a 2000 rpm
