    Hi People

Im looking to install a new audio system with the following components, all from car audio direct.

Question: this link is the pdf manual for the amp...
    http://www.abtelectronics.com/images/products/PDF_Files/big_mrvf345_OwnMan.pdf
Is it suitable? its a 4 channel amp, i can bridge channel 3/4 for the amp at 4ohm
channel 1/2 for the components....but the manual doesnt show a specific diagram for 3 channel output for this model (there are two amps in the model).

    Any suggestions?

in theory that should be just about 'ok'. 350rms going to the sub, but youll be running the amp close to its limit etc

personally ive always been much happier with about 15-20% more power than necessary as headroom to avoid pushing the amps too far

of the packages there, id be tempted with that one, very good value for money.

what head unit you going for? if you chose your component speakers carefully, you could run them from the headunit. unless youre really into it, its probably not worth having another amp just for the front end

It is a dated head unit.....The rainbow components from what I've read are very good...I like your idea (could work out cheaper) , might be worth going for the jbl package and upgrading to a new head unit, preferably with ipod control.....The specs for the rainbow comps:

Peak Power:120watt, Nominal Power Handling:80 Watt, Minimm amplifier power:30 Watt, Impedence 4OHM

What do i need to look for in the head unit to sufficently power the rainbows?

what you really want to look for is the RMS power output figures (seriously, any other type is completely made up).

most headunits will turn out 25-30rms per channel.

years ago, i used to use a headunit's 4 channels to run the components (ie tweeters on front channels, mids on rear channels) works a treat, but you will need components that have a high sensitivity (usually given in the spec as a dB figure. aim for 92bD+ sensitivity)

in short... you could spend a fortune on amps for this and that, upgraded components here and there... but in an in-car environment, you wont see the gain as in-car is completely flawed (space wise, noise wise, everything). ive been there seen it and done it lol
