The car I'm about to buy has a 10 disc changer, linked to a standard cd head unit. I'll be wanting to play every type of format I can, including MP3's, CD-R and CD-RW. I'll be upgrading the stereo for this, but will the changer read the discs? In effect, is it the changer that needs to be compatable or the processor in the stereo itself?
Withough knowing the make/model it's impossible to tell. But if it's linked to the standard VW HU then I'd say NO it won't be MP3 compatible. Edited by: gbolton
It's not a standard head unit - Sony I think, but that in itself isn't compatible. I guess I'll just have to try when I get the car! Thanks anyway.
So it won't play MP3's as the HU needs to have that capability as it does the decoding of the MP3 file into an audio stream.
