12 point tripple square bits

    Does anyone know where I can buy some of these 12 point tripple square bits to remove suppension from a mk4/mk5 golf


    Or are they called something else ?

    If they're the same sort of size as the ones for the driveshafts on my 16v then i got mine from halfords. Think they were part of a set of 'specialist' bits.

    spline tools are there more common name from 6mm through to 12mm normally

    tis an M14 for a mk5 if its the bolt at the bottom of the damper that clamps the hub to damper

    trust the yanks to call it something differnt [:p]
    it is the bottom bolt on the strut leg

    I think your right, I just tried the biggest tool I had M12 and it was no where near big enough :)

    Where can i get a m14 bit from?

    It might work, but the T is a Torx and the XZN drivers aren't the same. Torx are 6-points, and XZN are 12-points (aka triple-squares).

    If it is to remove the wheelbearings/hub unit then it is a M14. The vag tool is T10162. You might need a stepdown from 3/4 to a 1/2 inch as the tool comes only in 3/4.

    i have a set and they only go upto 12mm! halfords might do larger bits seperately.

    I have a teng set with them on cost me an arm and a leg though. I try and avoid halfords after cracking a 13mm socket whilst undoing the 3 bolts that hold the balljoint on

    Spot on its a M14 "spline tool" I got some from halfords they go upto M16

    20 for 7 bits
    16 with discount

    I just grip the head with vice grips and undo the nut on the other side.

    You should be turning the nut anyway, not the whole bolt.

    what? must have been cr8p ive never snapped a socket bit. even a cheap one
