    MKII Golf GTI 16 Valve

There is a lot of coolant coming from where the cloth braided hose (the hose which returns the coolant to the header tank) joins the top of the radiator, Ive cut the end and re attached it with a new jubilee clip but it still persists I think the hose may be past its best, does anyone have to hand the internal dimensions of the hose (or where I can buy one, ideally mail order) so I can replace it

you could just buy a couple of metres of straight samco hose, the 8mm internal diameter fits perfectly IIRC

yep, that's what I got, 3m did mine and a mates car (16v Corrados), you need just under 1.5m I think, but they only sell in metre lengths, make sure you measure the bore of the old pipe you have, I'm pretty sure I bought the 8mm but that's only from memory. It matches my samco blue water hoses nicely under the bonnet :)

Cheers david, took the hose off and measured it, 8mm

Measured the length of the hose and it was just under 1 metre long, ordered one and a couple of stainless clamps so fingers crossed that fixes the problem

Got blue as well althoght it now clashes with my red inlet manifold

cool... Corrado must have a slightly longer run to the header tank I reckon.

fitted the hose ths morning however the problem persists, from what i can see the coolant is weeping out from around the top plastic return pipe at the top of the radiator, had a look at the outlet and it doesnt seem cracked, could the radiator itself be to blame? the big top hose and new return hose are both getting warm pretty quickly, the lower hose remains cold until the thermosat opens and then it becomes hot, this is right?

The official size is 1.6m x 7mm iirc. GSF didn't have an exact part no when I replaced mine so just ask for 7mm fuel hose.
